Rhythm King

This particular “King” was immortalized through recordings by such icons as Bing Crosby with “The Rhythm Boys” and “Bix and his Gang”. It has a good major/minor feel and the verse and chorus goes very well together. In all a tune that should be played more often.
Hon’ put your best clothes on
Time we were out and gone
I gotta show you that up-town cabaret
They got a band that has, a master of blues and jazz
I gotta be there when they start to play
---
Listen to the rhythm king, listen to him play that thing
Lawd!, Lawd! He’s some sensation
Listen to the saxophone, layin’ on a minor tone
My!, My! Sweet syncopation
And what he plays on the strings,
That music brings tears to your eyes
It takes a hold, fillin’ your soul
Full of happy sighs
Pretty music so intense, hold your feelings in suspense
Lawd!, Lawd! Listen to the rhythm king
