Glad Rag Doll

Today I play a couple of choruses on a nice tune composed by Jack Yellen, with lyrics by Dan Dougherty and Milton Ager. I do not sing, so you will not hear the lyrics but they are quite sad. Glad Rag Doll means a girl dressed in her best or fanciest clothes, and here she is someone that the men only like to play with and would not like to “grow old and grey with.”

The song has a chord structure starting on the subdominant, reminding me of After You’ve Gone. For further inspiration, I would listen to the California Ramblers version.
