I Been ’Buked

CD Document Records DOCD-5501

They sing “There is trouble all over this world”. Nothing is known about The Bronzemen, but they left after them a couple of radio transcriptions from 1939. By that time the depression and radio had made the record industry suffer a big loss, so we are lucky that such documentation is preserved.

The group is well-balanced and polished, and it is very pleasant to listen to. In their repertoire there are several tunes that I recognize since I, as a teenager, was singing in a choir that worked with spirituals. Some of them have also been played by jazz bands.
