Without a Song

In December 1969, Freddie Hubbard (1938–2008) was in Europe, as this live recording proves.
That year on July 21, I came home from work, and some relatives had gathered to celebrate my 20th birthday. They were in front of the TV to look at the big event of the day, the first steps on the moon.
About 10 summers later, I had the chance to hear Hubbard’s trumpet when I played at a festival in Kristianstad, here in Sweden.
The first track of the CD that I enjoy today is a song by Vincent Youmans that I at other times enjoyed hearing in a totally different, 40 years earlier, version by Bing Crosby with Paul Whiteman.
