All the Whores Like the Way I Ride
LP Wolf WJS-1001
This happens sometimes. I’m not very inspired to listen to something, but I put on a record anyway with a very familiar sound, like with Louis Armstrong’s All Stars or, very differently, one with an early New Orleans Revival band. Since the tunes are common stuff and nothing peculiar or adventurous is happening in the music, it gets in the background while I’m reading a book or something.
Then suddenly I feel or see that my foot is moving, and after a while the whole room is rocking in rhythm, and I’m inexplicably in a very good mood.
Bunk Johnson, trumpet; Jim Robinson, trombone; George Lewis, clarinet; Lawrence Marrero, banjo; Alcide “Slow Drag” Pavageau, bass and Baby Dodds, drums in 1945.
