This is a somewhat worn record by The Virginians. But I still hear and like the sound of a good trombone in the opening presentation of the melody. That could be a good inspiration for New Orleans revival trombonists. Then there is a good clarinet ensemble, a sweet saxophone, and finally a heightened intensity in the last ”tutti” chorus. (The coda sounds as if it would lead to still one more chorus in a new key.)
It was recorded on March 2, 1923, and the band was a small group from The Paul Whiteman Orchestra.
